Last Call: 2023 Civil Affairs Roundtable

Only one week to go: Register now for the online spring Roundtable on Tuesday, 11 April 2023 from 9:30-15:30 Eastern (NY) Time!

The Roundtable closes this year's thematic discussion of "Civil Affairs; A Force for Winning without Fighting." The Roundtable shifts the CA Corps’ annual force and professional development discussion to policy-level perspectives on the role of CA in integrated deterrence and how the CA Corps can better ready itself for its growing role as such.

Providing the policy perspectives will be Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Christopher P. Maier and Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations Anne A. Witkowsky.

The Civil Affairs Proponent will then lead a round-robin commentary on this more strategic sense of CA readiness, including the U.S. Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), 95th Civil Affairs Brigade, Marine Civil Affairs, the U.S. Army Peacekeeping & Stability Operations Institute, and others.

Courtesy of the Irregular Warfare Initiative, West Point fellow Dr. Stanislava Mladenova and U.S. Military Academy professor Dr. Karen Guttieri will explore the relationship between integrated deterrence, irregular and cyber-warfare (respectively), and civil affairs.

The editors of the upcoming book, Warrior-Diplomats will also explain how this seminal new work provides related context on understanding CA in the 21st century.

Biographies of the Roundtable participants are posted on the registration webpage and you can download them here.

Last will be the open discussion on the next annual theme for the 2023-24 Civil Affairs Issue Papers.
