Civil Affairs Roundtable: April 14th 2021

The Civil Affairs Roundtable closes this year’s topical discussion of CA force development on “Civil Affairs: A Force for Influence in Competition” on Tuesday, April 14th 2021 from 8:30 to 17:00 EST.

The modular web-based event will begin with a keynote presentation by former Army Futures Command Deputy Commanding General Lieutenant General Eric J. Wesley, USA, Ret., with panels on: CA roles in the United States Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability; the role of CA in regional competition for influence; and institutional updates and priorities for CA force modernization. It will close with a facilitated discussion for nominations on the theme of the fall Symposium and 2021-22 Civil Affairs Issue Papers.

Based on the observations and findings captured in the soon-to-be published Symposium Report in the 2020-21 Civil Affairs Issue Papers, participants will look at how Army, joint, defense, and interagency institutions and policymakers can structure and prioritize recommendations at institutional levels for development of the civil affairs enterprise along the lines of doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership & education, personnel, facilities, and, of course, policy.

An oft-mentioned theme from the Symposium was keynote speaker Lieutenant General (Ret.) Hooper’s observation of the unique capacity and potential of the Nation’s “warrior-diplomats” to “strengthen alliances and attract new partners.”

The Roundtable or any part of it is free to registrants. For more information and to register, go to the upcoming events page on the Civil Affairs Association website.
